The awards play a key role in celebrating and showcasing the range of quality tourism businesses that visitors to the North East encounter. The tourism sector continues to be the fourth largest in the region, highlighting the importance of the businesses working in the sector to the wider economy.

The North East England Tourism Awards 2024 are being run in partnership with the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence. Eligible winners of the awards will automatically feed into the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, ensuring we promote the best of the region on a national stage.

“I was truly humbled to hear I had been shortlisted. I don’t do what I do to be noticed, but to ensure the business is succeeding and that visitors are having the best experience possible and enjoying a sport I am so passionate about.
Carl Howe, Valhalla North Axe Throwing, Highly Commended Winner of the new award Unsung Hero 2022.
